The New Year is juuuuust about here…

I admit I hyped up 2017 more than I should have. I was SO incredibly excited to say buh-bye to 2016 (not my favorite year) and I was sure that this year was going to be “my” year. I know I’m not alone! I seriously met SO many people who struggled greatly in 2016. It was a year of loss, conflict and letting go. It seemed like if it could go wrong, it would go wrong.

So yeah, I had high expectations for this year.

I probably did more planning and goal-setting than usual. I seriously mapped things out down to the letter. I purchased workbooks and a planner, and I adopted a “word of the year.”

I felt like I was adequately prepared for whatever would come my way. And I was, for the most part.

I also set some lofty big goals. A LOT of them.

And here’s the thing: I didn’t mark many of them complete. Some simply didn’t happen, and some proved to be less important, relevant or aligned so I took them off the list.

When I look back — I can truly see the perfection in how the year played out. But as for all the planning and goal-setting? Mmmm, I honestly think it was more of a distraction!

So, I’m doing something different —

I created a one-page planner that maps out my entire year. Yep. On one page.

I know, it sounds crazy — but I figure if I focus on my word for the year, a few core desired feelings, or being (Danielle LaPorte is my inspiration for adding that!) and some centering thoughts or affirmations — I can’t get too far off track!

I also added a daily inventory and a brief to-do list for good measure. So this year I will forgo a shiny new planner and see how I feel about this simplified planning strategy.

If you’d like to try it out, I will be happy to send you a copy — my gift to you! Let me know what you think!

I want a planner!
